Hello from Germany!

For my loyal readers (or those of you who might become loyal readers, or for anyone who has ever read my blog) I apologize for not updating this in a timely manner....

Well, I am finally here in Germany. I want to thank all of you who have supported me with your prayers and finances to make this possible. This entire first week here has been surreal and strange and amazing!

I arrived last Tuesday morning on a holiday, Fashing (like Mardi Gras). It was a very strange day being in a jet lag haze and having this cultural thing going on around me. Everything was (and still is) so new! That day was a blur of running around including getting my military id card to allow me on base and my SOFA card (like a visa to be in the country) I opened a bank account, got my PO box info, etc. etc....we did a lot. That night I went to my first middle school club. It was a lot of fun. These kids are great.

The next day was Ash Wednesday and I went to my first ever Ash Wed. mass. It was really quite beautiful and interesting.

The next few days were honestly a blur of activity and adjustment and newness. Somewhere in there I went to a bible study hosted by other missionaries, took one of the girls out in downtown Heidelberg for coffee for her birthday with my fellow intern Olivia, went kareokee(ing)? with a group of girls, drove to Landstuhl and Ramstein, went to two church services on Sunday, a birthday party and spent some much needed down time with the wonderful family who are letting me stay with them.

Now on to today...Today was a good day. I passed my German driving test! Yippie. I am test driving a car tomorrow!! We also had high school club tonight. It was totally amazing and made me remember why I love this job. I got to spend some great time just talking to these kids, who are truely amazing kids. Most of them have moved more times than they can count on 2 hands. Their reality is completely different than most American kids. Wow.

I am still looking for an apartment and would appreciate your prayers for that, as well as for the middle school camp, Escape, that is coming up this weekend.

Thank you friends and I promise to post some pictures ASAP. I would love to hear from you!
